FINALLY!!

Hey there, hope you're all doing great! I had to share my find today. FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY I can rest now, my hunt for the perfect piece of furniture is over & I can complete my dining room! I know, I'm WAY too excited here, but seriously, it was like becoming an obsession. I constantly checked craigslist, rummage sales, antique stores, etc. I knew what I wanted but I also had a budget. And everything I found that I had in mind was way out of my price range. I was beginning to give up & everyday when I looked at that blank wall in my dining room I hated it more & more (I know, get a real problem right?!?) But seriously, I've did like 4 posts on this dining room now, I'm sick if it, lets get it done already!!
So, enough about that, here she is...
It's perfect! Perfect size, perfect shape... Now- just needs to be the right color... What do y'all think? I'm kinda leaning towards black, but you know me, it'll be black, brown, blue, purple until I decide what I really want!
Here's my dining room right now...
I also thought about staining the top like my table, then painting the drawers a robin egg blue, then the outside of the dresser a cream color... I think it would kinda blend in too much with the wall & I dont know if it would look good having two dark top pieces right next to each other... However, I have had a little itch lately to get rid of my table. (I'm seriously insane I know!)
So, any opinions would be great! Thanks as always for looking & I look forward to your input... Kelly :) xoxo

Fall Mantel

How I decorate my fall mantel....

Hey there! I don't know about you but I am loving this time of year! I got my fall candles burning, my fall decorations out, dinner cooking in the crock pot, my leggings on & a comfy long sleeve shirt. I do love summer time, but I admit I was ready for a cool down! So, I've been tearing apart my house trying to figure out where to put everything :)
I did get my dining shelf display done so I'll share that with ya today...

I started by running some burlap ribbon randomly along the shelf...
Then just started placing little fall things here & there...
Some fall picks & pine cones from Hobby Lobby...
That plate in the background came from Goodwill ($1.00) Spray painted Mason Jar, and my favorite...
 Coleslaw Dressing Jar!!
(Spray painted with some looking glass paint & then dabbed with a damp paper towel)

One of my favorite scents...Caramel Ginger Strudel... YUM!!

The sign came from The Swiss Colony store years ago!...Love that place!

Had to show my coleslaw jar again- Im in love with that looking glass paint right now

 Love this little pumpkin...

I'll hopefully get some more fall posted soon, until then... HAPPY FALL Y'ALL :)  You just have to say y'all when ya live in Texas..It just sticks to ya!!

Building My "Make-Shift Mantle"

Hi All! So Im back to the dining room, the never-ending dining room! Well part of my dining room update (which still isn't done yet, but we're getting closer) was to put up a shelf or two on the wall that I was having trouble with, remember this post.....

Well, that hutch is now gone, decided I didn't like it in this space anymore... Then I did the stripes...
It's gettin there...
Then I decided to just make shelves to put along the wall (well one for now) and I am searching for that perfect piece of furniture to go under the shelf, but I haven't found it yet, so until then, I'll just show ya the "mantle." I'm calling it mantle because even though we have a fireplace, we don't have a mantle on it.
Im sure one could be put on there somehow, but I dont really want to drill in the marble when I have a whole blank wall I can use...
So, all I did was buy two corbels from Lowe's ($13/piece)

And a 6' board (I think that was around $10) Used some paint I already had & I had a new place for display! YAY!
And of course I had help...
She's such a serious worker!
We painted it brown first (mainly just the edges) then put a coat of white on top of that...
I didn't get too carried away trying to get neat with the painting, I just used a foam roller & didnt push too hard & it already gave it a distressed look without any sanding...
I think I may distress it up a bit more, but I was in a hurry to get it up so I could get my fall stuff out :)
That's all for now..Until I find that perfect piece I'm looking for, then I'll finally get to show the whole room!! And then it'll be time to change it all over again ;) what do y'all think of the white shelf? I know its hard to tell without seeing the whole room, I was going to do it dark to begin with, then I thought I'd go light... Im up for options!!

Painted Lampshade

Quick & Easy Little Way To Spruce Up A Plain Lampshade...

Hope your all having a great September! Its going by SO fast!! I just wanted to share a quick little project I did with y'all!
Ive been looking for that perfect little lamp for my hallway & of course couldn't find the exact fit, so I found this little lampshade at Target that I really liked, but it was just plain white. My hall is a light color so I didnt want it to blend in & since I've kinda got a "striped" theme going on I thought it would be cute to paint a stripe on the lampshade!
So... Here's the lampshade I bought...

So all I did was apply tape (I used 2" tape) I didnt measure or anything I just used the little edge piece on the shade as my guide.

Slap some paint on there, I only did 3 sides, let it dry then did the last side & thats it! Quick, Easy, and for Cheap!!
Its just the size I was looking for :)

Hope you all enjoyed! Now on to the next post (I got alot of catching up to do)
   Kelly.   XOXO
